sent approximately thirty
young people from across the
United States to the
14th Session of the
Commission on Sustainable Devleopment
(CSD), which took place May 1-12, 2006 in New York City.
CSD-14 was a "review session,"
which meant that member nations gathered to share updates on the
implementation of country commitments to sustainable development. The
topics for this CSD were Energy for Sustainable Development, Industrial
Development, Air pollution/Atmosphere, and Climate Change.
Participants provided on-the-ground reports to the Agents of Change blog at www.sustainus.org/blog. Agents and the SustainUS leadership also contributed reporting and analysis of the proceedings of the CSD to the youth climate blog www.itsgettinghotinhere.org. Please see the bios of the delegates. ![]() AoC delegates were very active in the CSD Youth Caucus, and were instrumental in planning the Youth Energy Blast, a gathering of over three dozen youth leaders from around the world who convened at Columbia University on April 29, 2006 to share experiences and best practices on projects and work around creating a sustainable energy future. For more information about the Youth Caucus, visit the web site at www.youthcaucus.net. Delegates attending the 14th Commission on Sustainable Development developed four policy briefings. |
